Laura Vanhulle

Originally from Belgium, Laura started training in rhythmic gymnastics at a very young age.  She started her training at Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD) where she achieved a BA (Hons) in contemporary dance.  In 2010 she received an apprenticeship with Ace Dance and Music and continued with the company as a professional dance artist.  Laura also worked with Shobana Jeyasingh, Coda Dance Theatre, Keneish Dance Theatre, Motionhouse (The Voyage), Rutherford Dance Company, Room 2 Manoeuvre and Aakash Odedra (Rehearsal Director).

Laura is still working closely with the Donna Sabri Company and Autin Dance Theatre.

Laura was funded by the Art Council in England for her first R&D in 2013.  She then set up her own dance company Vanhulle Dance Theatre in 2014.  Laura received further funding from the Art Council to collaborate with Mickael Marso Riviere and Nicolas Vladyslav to create a full length production “Angles in Life”.  The production toured internationally to different film festivals such as Pool 15 in Berlin and Dance Film Festival UK in London.

In 2015 Laura created, together with Vanhulle Dance Theatre, a solo entitled “Infinite Womanhood”, which was performed in 2015 in Tenerife, Hong Kong and Birmingham.

Laura was selected for DV8 professional development workshop in Berlin in August 2016, and has also travelled to Portugal to attend workshops with Gustavo Oliveira.

Laura is a recognised artist and has a great reputation teaching in the West Midlands working with organisations such asDanceXchange.   She has also danced in Jack Savoretti’s video clip “written in the Scars” under the direction of Niku Chaudhari.

Laura travelled to Hong Kong in 2016 to do a flying low program with Vangelis Legakis and worked with The Van-L Dance Company.  Whilst in Hong Kong Laura also did a residency with her brand new solo work “Infinite Womanhood”, where she collaborated with Mendi Mohinder Singh and Sascia Pellegrini, which will R&D in 2017 as a duet with Gustavo Oliveira (from Portugal). 

In 2015 Laura qualified as a personal trainer, where she specialises in the training and strengthening of dancers.  She has recently created LVFitness as a fitness motivation for dancers.  She also models for Asian Sharman and does occasional commercial work including with GB advertisement as a gymnast model.
